Vertigo Treatment Session

Does the room suddenly feel like it is spinning when you tilt your head back or roll over in bed? Do you feel unsteady on your feet, as if you are walking on a boat? Vertigo and balance disorders can be incredibly disorienting, inducing nausea and a constant fear of falling.

At Shri Shanti Physiotherapy Center (sometimes searched as shri shanti physiothay clinic), we provide specialized **Vestibular Rehabilitation Therapy (VRT)**. Directed by **Dr. Pawan Yogi (MPT Neurology)** in Chirawa, we utilize diagnostic positional tests and repositioning maneuvers to treat the root cause of vertigo without heavy medications.

What Causes Vertigo and Balance Issues?

Your sense of balance is controlled by a complex cooperation between your eyes, your sensory nerves in joints/muscles, and your inner ear (the vestibular system). The inner ear contains fluid-filled canals that detect head movements.

The most common cause of vertigo is **BPPV (Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo)**. BPPV occurs when tiny calcium carbonate crystals (called otoconia) break loose from their normal home and float into the fluid-filled semicircular canals of the inner ear. When you move your head, these loose crystals move, sending false signals to the brain that you are spinning, even when you are perfectly still.

Other causes include:

  • Vestibular Neuritis: Inflammation of the vestibular nerve, usually due to a viral infection.
  • Meniere's Disease: Excessive fluid buildup in the inner ear, causing vertigo, ringing in ears (tinnitus), and hearing loss.
  • Neurological Conditions: Post-stroke balance issues or cerebellar degeneration.

What is Vestibular Rehabilitation Therapy (VRT)?

Vestibular rehab is an exercise-based program designed to promote central nervous system compensation for inner ear deficits. The therapy has three main components:

  1. Canalith Repositioning Maneuvers (e.g., Epley Maneuver): If you have BPPV, Dr. Pawan Yogi performs a sequence of guided head and body movements. This maneuver uses gravity to roll the floating crystals out of the sensitive canals and back into their proper chamber, where the body can absorb them. *This often cures vertigo in just 1 to 2 sessions!*
  2. Gaze Stabilization Exercises: Designed to improve control of eye movements so vision remains clear during head movements. Perfect for patients who experience dizziness when turning their head.
  3. Habituation Exercises: Repeatedly exposing the patient to the specific movements that trigger their dizziness, helping the brain habituate (get used to) and ignore the false signal.
  4. Balance Retraining: Standing and walking exercises on varying surfaces (foam, incline) or with eyes closed, forcing the brain to rely on healthy balance pathways.

Avoid Self-treating Vertigo

Do not attempt the Epley Maneuver at home based on online videos. If performed on the wrong ear or canal, it can push the crystals deeper, triggering severe, uncontrollable spinning and vomiting. An expert assessment is crucial.

Why Get Vertigo Care at Shri Shanti Clinic?

Vertigo is often misdiagnosed and treated with suppressive medications that only mask symptoms and delay recovery. As a Master of Physiotherapy (MPT) in Neurology, Dr. Pawan Yogi performs detailed diagnostic testing (like the Dix-Hallpike test) to isolate the exact canal affected. Our targeted maneuvers provide instant, medication-free relief and help you walk with absolute confidence again.
